The Synerky 4-in-1 knife and scissor sharpener has a lot going for it. It has a sturdy non-slip base and ergonomic handle that’s easy to grasp and hold on to as you sharpen, which is very important for safety. What type of knifes does it work with?
The Synerky manual knife and scissor sharpener works on all sizes of household knives, giving you a great deal of flexibility. 4-in-1 Sharpening Options
When looking for a manual knife sharpener, it’s important to find one that offers the ability to sharpen various degrees of dullness. As I mentioned before, I have a draw full of knives in differing degrees of dullness. Some of them have large chips and some of them are just not quite sharp enough to cut through a tomato (which is always the sharpness test I use to determine if my knives are sharp enough).

How to Use the Synerky Manual Knife Sharpener
This is not a difficult tool to use. It’s very straightforward and easy to understand. The tool comes with a guide to show you exactly how to use it, so you won’t get it wrong and damage your knives.
- The first step is to determine the level of dullness of your knife. If you can see notches or nicks in the blade, you probably need to start with the #2 slot.
- Place the knife sharpener on a flat, non-slip surface and hold the handle firmly with your left hand, while holding
- the knife in the other hand.
- Place the blade of the knife, at the base of the blade, into the slot. Press down with only light pressure and slide the knife toward you with a smooth, sweeping motion.
- Remove the knife and begin again. You will do this perhaps 2-4 times, based on the dullness of the knife.
- Check the sharpness of the knife by cutting through a piece of paper or slicing a tomato.
In order to not cause damage to your knife, never push down with excessive force or slide the blade back and forth through the slot. The knife should only be moved in one direction while sharpening (toward you). Always clean the knife blade after sharpening and before use.
I had a little trouble sharpening my scissors in the scissor slot. At first attempt, the blade of the scissors kept getting stuck in the sharpening wheel, preventing me from pulling them toward me, as you would the knife blade. I finally was able to work them through the blade a few times. However, I didn’t notice a large improvement in their sharpness.
Going back to the sharpener, I decided to try pushing the scissors through the wheel instead of pulling, and that worked a lot better. The scissors went back to easily cutting through paper and thicker material like cardboard. They still don’t effortlessly cut through material, but they are noticeably sharper than before.
If you follow the Synerky knife and scissor sharpener instructions, the sharpness you’ll achieve from using this knife sharpener is very good. For the price, this manual sharpener will get the job done efficiently. Unless you have a drawer full of expensive top-of-the-line chef knives, you don’t need to spend more money on a high-end professional sharpener.
